Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop stars. She was an artist who could effectively bridge the gap between pop and country while sweeping the globe. Swift left country music like it was another layer and proved that she is perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. One who can harness the mood of times to make her music personal as well as perform in the opposite. Her early songs including the neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament to her talents. But, her follow-up album Fearless of 2008 proved to be an songwriter discovering her voice and a wider fan base. The album ended up with a lot of reach not just on the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world, with a particular success in Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's next album Speak Now, released nearly two years following the debut, further consolidated the success of this album. The album propelled Swift to superstardom. The popularity of Swift only grew over her next three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 and saw her move confidently into the realm of pop where she already belonged. Although she slowed down her strategy with 2020's stripped down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the charts, a place that she maintained through re-recordings from her back catalog along with Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 set.
